Jason Thompson, provided an overview of the bill and stood for questions. (Attachment 3)
Laura Howard, Secretary, Department for Children and Families, stated she has made transparency one of her top priorities. HB2628 proposes additional criteria under which DCF can release information to the public in the event of a fatality of a child. This bill is an important part of DCF's stated goal of increasing transparency while maintaining important confidentiality safeguards. Child fatalities are serious incidents that communities must grapple with, and it is important the public has access to the information HB2628 addresses as a matter of public trust. (Attachment 4)
