Short Title

Designating a portion of United States highway 69 as the Ken W Brock memorial highway and a portion of United States highway 81 as the Merle Miller memorial highway.

Chris Waggoner provided the committee with a briefing of the bill. (Attachment1)

Senator Caryn Tyson gave testimony supporting this bill in naming a portion of U.S. Highway 69 as the Ken W. Brock Memorial Highway because as he served his country, Ken also dedicated hours of his time and work to the founding of Names & Numbers in Pittsburg, Kansas, as well as the founder of Aviation Days in Kansas through the Federal Aviation Administration. (Attachment 2) 

Representative Lisa Moser gave testimony in support of  SB410  to honor Merle Miller for his tireless efforts in seeing  the completion of Highway 81 through Republic County, Kansas, as a robust four lane highway. (Attachment 3)

Steve Sloan provided testimony to the committee, honoring Ken W. Brock whose desire was to improve the lives of the citizens of Pittsburg and the entire Southeast Kansas region through his involvement in the community, his efforts in aviation through Pittsburg State University, and his service as Chairman of the Highway 69 Association. (Attachment 4)

Margo Miller Laubhan, gave testimony to the committee honoring her father, Mr. Merle Miller, and his continued efforts to making improvements in the paving of Highway US 81 and the completion of the  Pan American Highway known as an international highway from Winipeg, Canada, through the United States and down through Central and South America.  (Attachment 5)

Senator Elaine Bowers gave testimony to the committee, purporting a section of the US 81 highway to be named as the Merle Miller Memorial Highway from the southern Republic County to the Nebraska boarder in honor of Mr. Merle Miller and his efforts to promote a north - south international highway route and the improvements to US 81 highway. (Attachment 6)
