Chairperson Billinger opened the hearing on SB 481. David Wiese, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill. (Attachment 14)
Alysia Starkey, Dean of Kansas State University Polytechnic, testified in support of the bill. This brings the institution in line with the naming conventions used by the University when referencing its multi-campus structure. She anticipates an amendment regarding section four but is working with other sectors before bringing the amendment. (Attachment 15)
Heather Morgan, Kansas Association of Community Colleges, spoke as a neutral conferee as they support the desire to rename Kansas State University--Salina but there are concerns with section four of the bill and they are working with Kansas State University to address those concerns. (Attachment 16)
There being no further conferees, Chairperson Billinger closed the hearing on SB 481.
