SESSION OF 2001

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON HOUSE BILL NO. 2550

As Amended by House Committee on
Appropriations

Brief (1)

HB 2550, as amended, changes the statutory date by which the Director of Accounts and Reports is required to report to the Governor on the financial condition of the state from November 15 of each year to December 31 of each year.

Background

The Director of the Division of Accounts and Reports testified in support of the bill, noting that to prepare the annual report, the Division collects information from other state agencies. Many of these agencies file their annual reports after the statewide report is produced and must provide estimate information to the Division.

The bill as introduced included a section deleting a requirement that the Director of Accounts and Reports "receive and deal with requests for information as to the financial condition and operation of the state, either directly or in cooperation with any state agency." The House Committee amendment restored this requirement.

The Division of the Budget's fiscal note indicates the bill would have no fiscal impact.
