Brief (1)



HB 2543 would increase to $20,000 the limit within which counties, park districts, and school districts can make purchases without competitive bids. Under current law, the limit is $2,000 for counties and $10,000 for park districts and school districts.



The act takes effect upon publication in the statute book.





Background



Johnson County, Johnson County Park and Recreation District, Unified School District 253 in Emporia, and the Kansas Association of School Boards presented written testimony in support of the bill.



The fiscal note from the Division of the Budget indicates that the bill would have no fiscal effect.
