Brief (1)



HB 2206 amends the Consumer Protection Act by expanding the definition of consumer to include family partnerships and the term husband and wife. Family partnership is defined to mean a partnership in which the partners are related to each other, with a common ancestor within the third degree of relationship by blood or adoption or the spouses or stepchildren of these persons. A fiduciary acting on behalf of such persons is also included.





Background



A conferee from the Attorney General's Office spoke in favor of the bill so that small family run businesses could have the same protection as a sole proprietorship.
