SESSION OF 2001

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON
SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 1607

As Amended by Senate Committee on
Utilities

Brief (1)

SCR 1607 expresses the concern of the Kansas Legislature that the United States does not have a public policy on energy and the position of the Legislature encouraging the development of a federal energy policy that considers all possible future sources of energy. The Secretary of the Senate is directed to send a copy of the resolution to the President and Vice President, the Majority and Minority Leaders of the Senate, the Speaker and Majority and Minority Leaders of the House of Representatives, the Secretary of Energy, each member of the Kansas Congressional delegation, and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.

Background

SCR 1607 was recommended by the former director of the Kansas Geological Survey who met with the Senate Committee. The conferee indicated the resolution would be useful for an energy policy conference to be held in Washington, D.C., in April of this year.

The Senate Committee amendment is technical in nature.
