SB 66 makes a technical amendment to KSA 38-1507 dealing with the Child in Need of Care Code to correct an error in referencing another statute.

Background

SB 66 was requested by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). A concern was expressed that if the error was not fixed, there could be a challenge to the statutory authority of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services to share information concerning child abuse investigations with KDHE, which could result in delays in investigations, duplication in fact finding, and lack of cooperation between agencies.

SB 66 has no fiscal effect.
