SESSION OF 2001

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON SENATE BILL NO. 32

As Amended by House Committee on
Appropriations

Brief (1)

SB 32, as amended, would make a number of "clean up" changes in certain statutes related to the Kansas Governmental Accountability Law (K-GOAL). The bill would eliminate unnecessary language and clarify and standardize the provisions concerning performance audits under K-GOAL.

The House Appropriations Committee amended the bill to delete the statutory qualifications for the Secretary of the Department of Wildlife and Parks. Current statutory qualifications require that the Secretary of Wildlife and Parks shall be qualified by education, training, and experience in wildlife, parks, or natural resources, or a related field, and shall have demonstrated executive and administrative abilities.

Background

SB 32, as introduced, was requested by the Revisor of Statutes as a technical/"clean up" bill. The Legislative Post Auditor testified in favor of the bill, which was introduced by the Legislative Post Audit Committee.

The fiscal note prepared by the Division of the Budget indicates that the bill, as introduced, will have no fiscal impact.
