SESSION OF 1999

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON SENATE BILL NO. 37

As Recommended by Senate Committee on

Education

Brief(1)

S.B. 37 repeals three 1972 statutes which provided a school district a districtwide self-evaluation option for earning State Board of Education accreditation.

Background

S.B. 37 is one of 11 bills (S.B. 27 through S.B. 37) introduced by Senator Emert at the suggestion of the State Department of Education to remove from the books certain statutes that have become obsolete, have expired, or contain outdated provisions of education law.

The State Department of Education reports that it does not authorize accreditation on this basis.

According to the State Department of Education, the bill has no fiscal consequences.
