H.C.R. 5030 would require the Attorney General of Kansas to file and prosecute an action against the State of Nebraska to enforce the provisions of the Republican River Compact (K.S.A. 82a-518).
Background
This resolution was recommended by the 1997 Special Committee on Energy and Natural Resources. The interim Committee conducted hearings on the issue and had an executive session with the Attorney General, certain members of her staff, and officials with the Kansas Department of Agriculture.
There were no conferees appearing before the House Environment Committee at its hearing on the resolution.
No fiscal note was available at the time the House Environment Committee took its action on the resolution.
