SESSION OF 1998

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON HOUSE BILL NO. 2754

As Amended by House Committee on

Business, Commerce, and Labor

Brief(1)

H.B. 2754 would amend the law regarding mobile homes to allow the Secretary of Administration the authority to approve alternative materials for the construction of piers that mobile homes sit on. Under current law, the Secretary can approve the materials used for the foundation of piers, but not the piers.

Background

An official with the Kansas Manufactured Housing Association testified in support of the bill. A citizen submitted written comments about mobile homes and mobile home parks.

Due to a technical error in 1978, provisions similar to those of H.B. 2754 which were originally adopted by the 1978 Legislature were voided. This bill reinstates the provisions of 1978 S.B. 361.
