As Recommended by House Committee on

Health and Human Services

Brief(1)

H.B. 2629 amends K.S.A. 1997 Supp. 46-2506 to replace the current 1998 expiration date in the statute with the year 2002. The amendment has the effect of continuing the Health Care Reform Legislative Oversight Committee until December 31, 2002.

Background

The Health Care Reform Legislative Oversight Committee is created and operates pursuant to K.S.A. 1997 Supp. 46-2501 through 46-2506. For information on the composition and statutory charges of the Committee, see Report of the Health Care Reform Legislative Oversight Committee to the 1998 Legislature.

The House Committee recommended H.B. 2629 by placing it on the Consent Calendar in the House.

The fiscal note on H.B. 2629 indicates that passage of the bill would not increase state or local expenditures and that the costs of meetings for the Health Care Reform Legislative Oversight Committee can be financed from the amounts included in The FY 1999 Governor's Budget Report.
