SESSION OF 1998

SUPPLEMENTAL NOTE ON HOUSE BILL NO. 2210

As Amended by House Committee on

Appropriations

Brief(1)

The amendment to H.B. 2210 broadens the definition of those employees whose salaries could be increased from solely Information Resource Managers III to any position that is classified within the information resource manager job class series.

Background

H.B. 2210 was originally introduced with the purpose of changing the status of the Information Resource Manager III positions from classified to the unclassified service as the positions become vacant. The proposed change was intended to remedy the recruitment problem by allowing an increase in the salary of these positions. The amendment to H.B. 2210 allows a greater number of employees to be eligible for the increased salary and thereby, provides a more effective remedy to the recruitment problem.

The fiscal note on H.B. 2210 indicates that the fiscal impact of H.B. 2210 cannot be estimated because it is not known when the positions would become vacant.
