As Recommended by Senate Committee on
Elections and Local Government

Brief(1)

S.B. 397 repeals an obsolete statute which requires a report of unpaid taxes be prepared at the end of a county treasurer's term of office. The statute requires the tax roll report be delivered to the county clerk and that no taxes be received for one week during this time.

Background

The bill was recommended by the 1997 interim Special Committee on Governmental Organization. It was supported by the Kansas Association of Counties, Sedgwick County, and the Kansas County Treasurers' Association.

The fiscal note indicates the bill would have no fiscal impact.
