 The Senate was called to order by President Dick Bond.

 The roll was called.

 Invocation by Senator Nick Jordan:

      Father, we come to you today with humble hearts acknowledging our dependence
      on you and each others counsel.

      Please grant us discernment to know right from wrong, and as we face complex
      issues may we find properly balanced solutions.

      As your scripture says, let us bind kindness and truth around our necks . . . (tri-stars)at
      we may be kind in our deliberations and hold on to the truth.

      We continue to ask your blessings upon our state. Thank you for your grace, mercy
      and watchful care.

      In Christ's name I pray. Amen.

CHANGE OF REFERENCE

 The President withdrew SB 444 from the Committee on Ways and Means and referred
the bill to the Committee of the Whole.

 On motion of Senator Emert the Senate adjourned until 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 10,
1998.
