Shriver were excused on excused absence by the Speaker.
Prayer by Chaplain Washington:
Heavenly Father,
Since You said in James 1:17 that You do not change, since You said that every
good action and every good gift comes to us from You, we therefore know to whom
we should turn and to Whom we should give thanks.
Lord, on behalf of all of those throughout these halls of justice, I pray Your
blessings.
Guide them in times of decision. Encourage them in times of despair. Strengthen
them in times of weakness. Comfort them in times of sorrow. When the clouds hide
their sun . . . when stress affects their blood pressure and difficult people drive
them up a wall . . . when they're plagued with discouragement and they're at the
point of exhaustion, bless them with the panacea of Your unchanging goodness.
As we look back on each day of this session, let us in retrospect, see the tracks of
Your unchanging goodness, that it may give us confidence and fuel our faith for a
blessed future.
I come to You, in the Name of the Christ. Amen and Amen.
