J o u r n a l o f t h e S e n a t e THIRTY-SIXTH DAY -------- SENATE CHAMBER, TOPEKA, KANSAS Wednesday, March 5, 1997--2:30 p.m. The Senate was called to order by President Dick Bond. The roll was called with thirty-nine senators present. Senator Salmans was excused. Invocation by Chaplain Fred S. Hollomon: Heavenly Father, Sometimes we find ourselves, O God, Subject to confusion, When folks who have identical facts Don't reach the same conclusion. It seems to us that when we hear The very same conferees, And read the same material, That we ought to all agree. We think there must be something wrong; Why is there so much fuss? Why can't they see that we are right And just agree with us? So as we search for answers As to why they're not correct, We are tempted to conclude Their motives are suspect. But when with their conclusions We cannot go along, It is not right that we assume Their motives are all wrong. So when their motives are obscure And we cannot find them out, Help us, Lord, to give them The benefit of the doubt. I pray in Jesus' Name, AMEN CHANGE OF REFERENCE The President withdrew SB 317 from the Committee on Ways and Means, and rereferred the bill to the Committee on Agriculture.
