A Resolution congratulating and commending Warren Weibert
� � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � � �
and U.S. Premium Beef.

� � � WHEREAS,� The National Cattlemen's Foundation, Inc. in coopera-
tion with Bayer Animal Health present a Vision Award to the top six
innovators in the beef industry and one national award winner; and

� � � WHEREAS,� These awards are presented to beef industry leaders who
have taken innovative steps to improve the beef industry by focusing on
consumer demand and for having the courage to adapt to a changing
marketplace; and

� � � WHEREAS,� The beef industry is the largest segment of the Kansas
agriculture economy and of vital importance to the state's overall eco-
nomic well-being; and

� � � WHEREAS,� Warren Weibert of Oberlin, Kansas, was selected as one
of the six regional winners for the innovative steps he has taken in the
operation of the 38,000 head Decatur County Feed Yard; and

� � � WHEREAS,� U.S. Premium Beef of Kansas City was selected as one
of the six regional winners and was also selected as the national award
winner for its vision to vertically integrate and move the cattle industry
from a commodity business to a value-added, consumer-driven industry;
and

� � � WHEREAS,� The state of Kansas should continue to encourage these
types of innovative efforts, including the formation of alliances with other
industry segments: Now, therefore,

� � � Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas:�That we congrat-
ulate and commend Warren Weibert and U.S. Premium Beef for being
selected by their peers as the most innovative beef producers in the
United States and winners of the beef industry's Vision Award.

� � � Be it further resolved:�That the Secretary of the Senate be directed
to provide nine enrolled copies of this resolution to Senator Morris.
