  9             AN  ACT concerning the department of corrections; relating to parolees.

11       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
12             Section  1. (a) On and after July 1, 2001, the department of correc-
13       tions shall establish a procedure for the sharing of information between
14       the parole offices and the local law enforcement authorities to monitor
15       persons on parole or postrelease supervision in Sedgwick, Johnson, Shaw-
16       nee, Wyandotte and Douglas counties. The parole officers in such coun-
17       ties shall have access to such information through computer terminals in
18       the parole offices.
19             (b) On and after July 1, 2002, the department of corrections shall
20       establish a statewide procedure for the sharing of information between
21       the parole offices and the local law enforcement authorities to monitor
22       persons on parole or postrelease supervision. The parole officers in the
23       counties shall have access to such information through computer termin-
24       als in the parole offices.
25             (c) The information shared pursuant to this section shall monitor ar-
26       rest records and other information as determined by the secretary of
27       corrections.
28        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
29       publication in the statute book.
