  9             AN  ACT concerning school districts; relating to the provision of instruc-
10             tion on human sexuality.

12       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13             Section  1. (a) Each school district that provides pupils with instruc-
14       tion on human sexuality shall: (1) Ensure that all curricula and materials
15       to be used for such instruction will be made available for inspection and
16       critique by parents and guardians of pupils; and (2) provide for exemption
17       of pupils from participation in classes given for instruction in human
18       sexuality.
19             (b) No pupil shall be required to participate in classes given for in-
20       struction in human sexuality unless the pupil's parent or guardian con-
21       sents in writing to participation by the pupil in such classes. Refusal by a
22       pupil to participate in such classes shall not be reason for suspension or
23       expulsion of, or imposition of any other disciplinary penalty on, any such
24       pupil. 
25        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
26       publication in the statute book.
