SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1846
                                                                       
A Resolution in memory of Marvin R. Webb.

      WHEREAS,  Marvin R. Webb, 80, of Topeka, died Tuesday, March
23, 1999, at a Topeka hospital; and

      WHEREAS,  Mr. Webb was a chairman of the Kansas Democratic
Veterans Club in Topeka and the Farmers and Ranchers for the Michael
Dukakis State Campaign, and he was a delegate to the 1988 Democratic
National Convention. He was ward captain and precinct committee per-
son for the Shawnee County Democratic Party. He was a member of the
Democratic Action Committee, Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Le-
gion, Highland Park Optimist Club, Lowman United Methodist Church,
Highland Park United Methodist Church and North Topeka Baptist
Church. He was nominated to Who's Who in Mid-America, and he was
a member of the board of directors of St. John's Military School, Salina,
and the Topeka Home Builders Association; and

      WHEREAS,  Mr. Webb was the developer and managing partner of
Southboro Estates in Topeka, which opened in 1989. He had been the
director of the Kansas Grain Inspection Department, and he had worked
for the United States Department of Energy at Camp Hill, Pennsylvania,
and in Kansas City, Missouri. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World
War II. He also served as chairman of the Kansas Real Estate Commis-
sion; and

      WHEREAS,  He married Georgina Haydon Hensley on June 5, 1983,
in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Daryl
Coleman, three stepsons, Randall Hensley, Timothy Hensley, and An-
thony Hensley, two grandchildren and four step grandchildren. A son,
W.L. Webb, preceded him in death: Now, therefore,

      Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas: That we extend
our deepest sympathy to the family of Marvin R. Webb; and

      Be it further resolved: That the Secretary of the Senate be directed
to provide five enrolled copies of this resolution to Mrs. Marvin R. Webb,
4240 SE Wisconsin Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66609.

Senate Resolution No. 1846 was sponsored by Senators Petty, Barone,
