SENATE RESOLUTION No. 1830

      A Resolution congratulating and commending the Colby Community College
                                          wrestling team.

      WHEREAS,  The Colby Community College wrestling team is the 1999
National Junior College Athletic Association wrestling champion; and

      WHEREAS,  The wrestling team won its first national title at the national
wrestling tournament held at Rochester, Minnesota, on February 20, 1999.
The team scored a total of 129 points. Perennial junior college wrestling
powers North Idaho College and Lassen College of California scored 88 1/2
and 86 points, respectively. Team members and individual results are as
follows:

Chad Boudreaux 133 lbs. 2nd place
Peter Koster 141 lbs. 2nd place
Alex Berman 149 lbs. 2nd place
Corey Hill 157 lbs. 1st place
Dennis Parker 174 lbs. 5th place
Daniel Cormier 197 lbs. 1st place
Alex Haines 285 lbs. 7th place


Daniel Cormier was the national champion for the second consecutive year;
and

  WHEREAS,  The Colby Community College wrestling team is coached
by Head Coach Steve Lampe, who was named the national coach of the
year, and Assistant Coach Jason Reed; and

      WHEREAS,  The Colby Community College wrestling team, in winning
its first national championship, has brought great honor to the team mem-
bers, the college, community and state, and the people of the State of Kansas
feel great pride in this accomplishment: Now, therefore,

      Be it resolved by the Senate of the State of Kansas: That we congratulate
and commend Coaches Lampe and Reed and the members of the 1999
Colby Community College wrestling team upon being the 1999 National
Junior College Athletic Association wrestling champion; and

Be it further resolved: That the Secretary of the Senate be directed to
provide 10 enrolled copies of this resolution to Mikel Ary, President, Colby
Community College, 1255 S. Range, Colby, Kansas 67701.
