  9             AN  ACT concerning municipalities; relating to franchises.

11       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
12             Section  1. (a) Any franchise agreement entered pursuant to K.S.A.
13       12-2001, and amendments thereto, shall include a provision which ex-
14       empts school districts and school district property from the payment of
15       franchise fees imposed pursuant to any such agreement.
16             (b) The provision of this section shall apply to franchise agreements
17       entered into after the effective date of this act and any renewal or exten-
18       sion thereof and to the renewal or extension of any franchise agreement
19       entered into prior to the effective date of this act.
20        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
21       publication in the statute book.
