10             AN  ACT relating to income taxation; providing a check-off for the fund-
11             ing of unified school district technology programs.

13       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
14             Section  1. (a) For tax years 2000 and 2001, each Kansas state indi-
15       vidual income tax return form shall contain a designation as follows:
16             Kansas millennium K-12 education technology fund program. Check
17       if you wish to donate, in addition to your tax liability, or designate from
18       your refund, __$1, __$5, __$10, or $__.
19             (b) The director of taxation of the department of revenue shall de-
20       termine annually the total amount designated for use in the Kansas mil-
21       lennium K-12 education technology fund program pursuant to subsection
22       (a) and shall report such amount to the state treasurer who shall credit
23       the entire amount thereof to the millennium technology fund which fund
24       is hereby established in the state treasury. In the case where donations
25       are made pursuant to subsection (a), the director shall remit the entire
26       amount thereof to the state treasurer who shall credit the same to such
27       fund. All moneys deposited in such fund shall be used solely for the
28       purpose of providing technological advancements for K-12 students en-
29       rolled in a unified school district. All expenditures from such fund shall
30       be made in accordance with appropriation acts.
31        Sec.  2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
32       publication in the statute book.
