  9             AN  ACT relating to accessible parking; amending K.S.A. 1998 Supp. 8-
10             1,124 and repealing the existing section.

12       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13             Section  1. K.S.A. 1998 Supp. 8-1,124 is hereby amended to read as
14       follows: 8-1,124. As used in this act, "person with a disability" means any
15       individual who:
16             (a) Has a severe visual impairment;
17             (b) cannot walk 200 feet without stopping to rest;
18             (c) cannot walk without the use of or assistance from, a brace, cane,
19       crutch, another person, prosthetic device, wheelchair or other assistive
20       device;
21             (d) is restricted by lung disease to such an extent that the person's
22       forced (respiratory) expiratory volume for one second, when measured
23       by spirometry, is less than one liter or the arterial oxygen tension is less
24       than 60 mm/hg on room air at rest;
25             (e) uses portable oxygen;
26             (f) has a cardiac condition to the extent that the person's functional
27       limitations are classified in severity as class III or class IV according to
28       standards set by the American heart association; or
29             (g) is severely limited in such person's ability to walk due to an ar-
30       thritic, neurological or orthopedic condition.; or
31             (h) has lost an arm or has lost a hand.  
32       Sec.  2. K.S.A. 1998 Supp. 8-1,124 is hereby repealed.
33        Sec.  3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
34       publication in the statute book.
