            9             AN ACT relating to the transfer of certain property on grounds formerly
10             called ``Schilling Air Force Base,'' Salina, Kansas, to the occupational
11             center of central Kansas, inc., Salina, Kansas.
12            
13           WHEREAS, The 1969 session of the Kansas legislature, by chapter
14       404 of the 1969 Session Laws of Kansas, authorized the state board of
15       social welfare to convey to the occupational center of central Kansas, inc.,
16       part of the property formerly called the ``Schilling Air Force Base,'' which
17       was acquired by the State of Kansas from the United States of America,
18       by quitclaim deed dated October 10, 1966;
19           WHEREAS, The conveyance of this property to the occupational cen-
20       ter of central Kansas, inc., was authorized, subject to the condition that
21       the occupational center of central Kansas, inc., amend its articles of in-
22       corporation to provide that the land shall be deeded to the State of Kansas
23       in the event the occupational center of central Kansas, inc., should dis-
24       solve or discontinue the activities for which it was originally incorporated;
25       and
26           WHEREAS, It is the desire of the legislature to release the occupa-
27       tional center of central Kansas, inc., from any obligation to deed such
28       land to the state of Kansas, and to allow the occupational center of central
29       Kansas, inc., to deal with or dispose of such land or any portion thereof:
30       Now, therefore,
31       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
32           Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision to the contrary in K.S.A.
33       72-4314b, and amendments thereto, the occupational center of central
34       Kansas, inc., is hereby released from any obligation to deed or convey to
35       the state of Kansas any part of the property acquired by quitclaim deed
36       dated October 4, 1969, and recorded in the office of the register of deeds,
37       Saline county, Kansas, Deed Book 284, pages 346-348, between the state
38       of Kansas, grantor, and the occupational center of central Kansas, inc.,
39       grantee, described as follows: The east 668.5 feet of block 8 of Schilling
40       Subdivision to the City of Salina, Saline County, Kansas, more particularly
41       described as follows: Beginning at a point 255.29 feet west and 48.11 feet
42       north of the southeast corner of section 34, township 14 south, range 3
43       west of the 6th principal meridian in Saline County, Kansas; thence north

  1       on a line parallel to the centerline of Centennial Road, a distance of 642
  2       feet; thence west, on a line perpendicular to the centerline of Centennial
  3       Road, a distance of 668.5 feet; thence south, on a line parallel to the
  4       centerline of Centennial Road, a distance of 642 feet; thence east, on a
  5       line parallel to the north line of said tract, a distance of 668.5 feet to the
  6       point of beginning; the same containing approximately 9.852 acres of land
  7       and the buildings and improvements thereon.
  8           The occupational center of central Kansas, inc., is hereby authorized
  9       to amend its articles of incorporation to remove any provision that the
10       property described in this section shall be deeded to the state of Kansas
11       in the event that such corporation should dissolve or discontinue the
12       activities for which it was originally incorporated. A copy of the articles
13       of incorporation of the occupational center of central Kansas, inc., show-
14       ing such amendment may be recorded in the office of the register of
15       deeds of Saline county, Kansas. The occupational center of central Kan-
16       sas, inc., is further hereby authorized to resell, lease, mortgage or oth-
17       erwise dispose of such property, and any improvements thereon, or any
18       part thereof at such time and in such manner as the occupational center
19       of central Kansas, inc., may determine.
20           Sec. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
21       publication in the statute book.
