                    SENATE BILL No. 565           By Committee on Judiciary           2-3             9             AN ACT concerning jurors; relating to fees; amending K.S.A. 43-171 and
10             repealing the existing section.

12       Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13           Section 1. K.S.A. 43-171 is hereby amended to read as follows: 43-
14       171. (a) Jurors shall be paid the following fees out of by the county from
15       the county general fund: For attending before any court pursuant to this
16       act, (1) For each day of attendance before any court as provided in K.S.A.
17       43-155 et seq. and amendments thereto, ten dollars ($10) an amount equal
18       to $20 per day; and (2) for each mile necessary traveled in going to and
19       returning from the place of attendance, mileage at the rate prescribed by
20       law.
21           (b) Commencing four years after the effective date of this act and
22       every four years thereafter, the judicial administrator of the courts as
23       provided in K.S.A. 20-318 and amendments thereto shall review such
24       juror fees as provided in subsection (a) and make recommendations to the
25       Kansas Legislature and the Governor prior to the legislative session which
26       commences after such review is required to be conducted for any changes
27       in such fees as the judicial administrator has determined appropriate.
28           Sec. 2. K.S.A. 43-171 is hereby repealed.
29           Sec. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
30       publication in the statute book.
