10  AN ACT concerning digital signatures.

12  Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Kansas:
13    Section 1.  (a) This act may be cited as the Kansas digital signature
14  act.
15    (b) As used in this act, ``digital signature'' means a computer-created
16  electronic identifier that is: (1) Intended by the party person using it to
17  have the force and effect of a signature; (2) unique to the party person
18  using it; (3) capable of verification; (4) under the sole control of the party
19  person using it; and (5) linked to data in such a manner that it is invali-
20  dated if the data are changed.
21    (c) A digital signature may be accepted as a substitute for, and, if ac-
22  cepted, shall have the same force and effect as any other form of signa-
23  ture.
24    Sec. 2.  This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its
25  publication in the statute book.
