The state audit office in Kansas is looking for a licensed CPA with recent public practice experience to oversee the office’s contracted audit work, including the Single Audit. This is a Topeka-based, management-level position located within the legislative branch of government that contracts all its financial-compliance audits. Primary duties include developing and administering audit contracts, reviewing the work performed, and conducting or supervising some in-house compliance or control-related audits. Experience performing GAGAS financial audits required. Experience with conducting or overseeing the Single Audit in some capacity preferred. Familiarity with state government operations a plus. Salary up to $85,000, commensurate with experience. Good benefits package. Vacancies are filled at the entry level. Successful candidates must have a master's degree or significant graduate-level coursework in business, accounting, law, public administration, the social sciences, etc; must demonstrate excellent skills in data analysis, oral communication, and report writing; and must be comfortable working in a team setting. Preference given to candidates with strong computer skills.
