Proponents

The Chairman recognized Commander Shoemaker. (Attachment 1) He said there are currently 277 American Legion Posts across Kansas.  He said the American Legion was chartered by the United States Congress on March 15, 1919, as a patriotic veterans' organization devoted to mutual helpfulness for soldiers returning from World War 1.  Commander Shoemaker said this organization is now in its 101st year. He discussed several of the programs they are involved in.  He said it is their hope when veterans see the American Legion emblem on state license plates that it may encourage them to join and help continue supporting the many programs that their organization sponsors.

The next proponent was Matt Lindsey. (Attachment 2) Mr. Lindsey said the Kansas' Independent College Association (KICA) has partnered with the Kansas Independent College Foundation (KICF).  He said the KICF is a non-profit, originally established in 1952 to develop, promote and direct unified approaches to selected corporations, foundations and individuals for financial support of Kansas' independent colleges and universities.

Written only testimony in support of HB2592 by:
