Minutes for SB391 - Committee on Transportation

Short Title

Relating to maximum weight limits of emergency vehicles.

Minutes Content for Tue, Mar 6, 2018

Staff explained the bill and answered questions.

The Chairman again recognized Josh Powell. (Attachment 2) According to Mr. Powell, this amendment was also proposed by the Kansas Department of Transportation in order to come into compliance with federal law.  He said this bill allows an emergency vehicle to operate at a gross weight not to exceed 86,000 pounds.

Mr. Powell stood for questions.  There were no other proponents, no opponents and no neutrals so Chairman Proehl closed the Hearing on SB391.

The Chairman asked for approval of the House Transportation Committee Minutes for meetings held on February 14, 2018 and February 19, 2018, copies of which had previously been sent to Members.  Representative Lusker moved approval of the Minutes, seconded by Representative Pittman.  Motion carried.
