The Chairperson opened the hearing on HB 2546.

David Wiese gave an overview of the bill.  (Attachment 1)

Josh Roe testified in support of the bill stating the need for the best long term solution for funding for the Kansas State Fair.  Mr. Roe answered questions from Committee members.  (Attachment 2)

Virginia Crossland-Macha testified in support of the bill stating the bill would provide more stable funding for the Kansas State Fair.  She also asked the committee to expand beyond grandstand and admissions by including carnival sales to increase funding.  Ms. Crossland-Macha answered questions from Committee members.  (Attachment 3)

Amy Kramer, Department of Revenue, was asked by the Chair to respond to questions from the Committee members raised by Ms Crossland-Macha's testimony.

Eva Hinrichsen testified in support of the bill stating HB 2546 would assist in defraying costs of improvements to fair facilities.  Miss Hinrichsen answered questions from Committee members.  (Attachment 4)

Brody Nemechek testified in support of the bill stating his experiences at the fair have encouraged him to be an agricultural leader for life.  Mr. Nemechek answered questions from Committee members. (Attachment 5)

Jillian Keller testified in support of the bill as it would help enhance and grow the fair's capital improvements and therefore help Kansas 4-H and FFA members.  Miss Keller answered questions from Committee members. (Attachment 6)

Gavin Fry testified in support of the bill stating the fair has given him opportunities to make lifelong connections and develop leadership and life skills for his career in agriculture.  Mr. Fry answered questions from Committee members. (Attachment 7)

There being no further conferees, Chairperson Schroeder closed the hearing on HB 2546.
