Minutes Content for Mon, Jan 29, 2018

Mike Heim, Revisor, presented a brief overview of HB2155,

There were questions from the Committee for Mr. Heim.

Representative Jim Ward, House Minority Leader, Kansas House of Representatives, provided testimony in support of HB2155 (Attachment 1), stating it would prohibit an individual from lobbying or being employed as a lobbyist for one year after leaving public office.  He stated the intent is to stop the revolving door between public service and lobbying, which would reduce insider influence and put more emphasis on the merits of ideas.  He stated the bill would also promote the idea that the people's business is the prime directive, not insider influence.

Representative Ward answered questions from the Committee.

Representative Esau, Chair, closed the hearing on HB2155.
