Short Title

Increasing loss thresholds for certain property crimes.

Minutes Content for Mon, Jan 23, 2017

Natalie Scott gave an overview of HB2092.

Scott Schultz, Executive Director of the Kansas Sentencing Commission testified in support of HB2092 on behalf of the Commission. Schultz indicated that adoption of the bill would result in a slight reduction in bed space needs for the Department of Corrections and would align the value of loss for a number of crimes with the value of loss for theft adopted last year by the legislature at the $1500 level. The Committee had questions for Executive Director Schultz.

Written only testimony was submitted by Jennifer Roth on behalf of Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in support of HB2092. (Attachment 10)
