75-7425. Same; insurance department study and report; legislative interim study. (a) The Kansas department of insurance shall conduct a study on the impact of extending continuation benefits under COBRA for a period of 18 months pursuant to K.S.A. 40-19c06, and amendments thereto, and other applicable statutes and other policy changes to make health insurance more competitive, affordable and portable. The commissioner of insurance shall prepare a report on its findings and present such report to the secretary of health and environment and the joint committee on health policy oversight.

(b) The legislative coordinating council shall appoint a legislative study committee during the 2007 interim period to study and review various options for tax credits and benefits for the purchase of long-term care insurance, health earned income tax credits, health insurance and health savings accounts.
