Minutes Content for Tue, Mar 12, 2024

Chairperson Billinger opened the hearing on HB 2760. David Wiese, Office of the Revisor of Statutes, provided an overview of the bill and responded to questions from Committee members.  (Attachment 1)

Rob Leicht, Director of Operations for the Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs Office (KCVAO), testified as a proponent of the bill on behalf of the Director, Brigadier General Bill Turner. This bill changes the name of the agency to better reflect the services they provide to veterans. The agency is no longer governed by a commission and clarifying the name will make them more identifiable to Kansas veterans as well as other state and federal agencies. The biggest expense is changing signage on cemeteries and buildings but they are not asking for additional funds. Mr. Leicht responded to questions from Committee members.  (Attachment 2)

There being no further conferees, Chairperson Billinger closed the hearing on HB 2760.
