Chairperson Longbine opened the hearing on HB2787.
Eileen Ma, Assistant Revisor, ROS, presented the Revisor's Memorandum brief. (Attachment 7) Ms. Ma stood for questions. There were none.
Eric Turek, Director of Government and Public Affairs, KID, presented proponent testimony on this bill, which he requested on behalf of Vicki Schmidt, Insurance Commissioner and Kansas Insurance Guaranty Association (KIGA). The bill updates definitions, amends the KIGA statute pertaining the board of directors, giving the Insurance Commissioner flexibility to establish a range of seven to nine members, and also gives the Commissioner the authority to remove approved board members for inefficiency, neglect of duty, or malfeasance. (Attachment 8) Mr. Turek answered a question from Senator Fagg.
There being no other proponent, opponent, or neutral testimony submitted, Chairperson Longbine closed the hearing on HB2787. The meeting adjourned at 10:00 am. The next scheduled meeting is Tuesday, March 12, 2024, at 9:30 am in Room 546-South of the Capitol.
