Proponents:

Shonda Anderson Atwater, Director of Apprenticeship and Internship, KS Dept of Commerce, spoke in favor of the bill. (Attachment 1) Apprenticeships provide greater access to all Kansas who want to learn a new skill and find high quality employment, and gives Kansas employees access to grow their own well-trained workforce to meet their specific business needs.

Eric Stafford, Vice President of Government Affairs, The Kansas Chamber, appeared in favor of the bill. (Attachment 2) The bill would establish a tax credits for employers who establish, or have established, a registered apprenticeship with U. S. Department of Labor or the Secretary of Commerce and office of registered apprenticeship.

Cassie Gilmore, KS State Council of Society for Human resource Management (KS SHRM), spoke in favor of the bill. (Attachment 3) The bill would enact the Kansas Apprenticeship Tax Credit Act aimed at encouraging the development of apprenticeship programs in Kansas through income tax credits and grants for participating businesses that employ apprentices.
