The Revisor briefed the Committee on the bill's content. (Attachment 3)
The Chairman recognized Eric Rohleder, Deputy Director of the Kansas Commission on Veterans Affairs (KCVAO). (Attachment 4) According to Mr. Rohleder, this bill would authorize the Secretary of Administration to convey approximately 15 acres of land to the KCVAO from the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services. In 2021 the Governor directed the KCVAO to submit an application to the Federal Dept. of Veterans Affairs to fund construction of a Northeast Kansas Veterans home facility. A nine-member advisory committee reviewed the application and narrowed the list to two locations then a three-person panel determined the preferred site. Mr. Rohleder stood for questions. After all questions were answered the Chairman asked if there were any additional proponents or opponents or neutrals. No one came forward so the Chairman closed the hearing on HB2378.

Chairman Ellis announced that our next meeting will be on February 16th at which time the Committee will hear two bills (HB2392 and SB39) and have final action on two bills (HB2230 and HB2378.).
