Authorizing the attorney general to coordinate training regarding a multidisciplinary team approach to intervention in reports involving alleged human trafficking for law enforcement agencies and requiring training on human trafficking awareness and identification for certain child welfare agencies, juvenile justice agencies, mental health professionals and school personnel.

Chairperson called for discussion and final action on SB497.

Jason Thompson, Senior Assistant Revisor reviewed SB497 and distributed a recommended technical amendment to include additional professions licensed and regulated by the Kansas Behavioral Science Regulatory Board (BSRB). The revisor responded to questions from Committee members. (Attachment 2)

Senator Warren moved, Senator Gossage seconded, to adopt the amendment. The motion carried.

Senator Baumgardner proposed and discussed an amendment to include postsecondary or educational institution personnel who have regular contact with children under 18 years of age. (Attachment 3)

Senator Baumgardner moved, Senator Thompson seconded, to adopt the amendment. The motion carried.

Senator Baumgardner moved to recommend SB497 favorably for passage, as amended. Senator  Gossage seconded. The motion carried.
