Proponent Representative Ron Highland explained the differences between regulations covering steam boilers and hot water heaters. Rep. Highland indicated that his bill would reduce the gallon size of a water heater that would require a specialized facility and a continued periodic inspection process. Rep.Highland reminded the committee that the same language passed the House last session 125-0 during the last session.

Neutral Marshal Doug Jorgensen stated that he has confirmed that both his agency and representatives from the insurance industry had no issues with this bill. While estimated that the lost inspection related revenue fees for his agency would be approximately $80,000 per year, it represented an amount that his agency's current budget could absorb.

Seeing no more testimony on the bill the Chairman closed the hearing on the bill.
